Halloween Trick or Treat
Toddlers grow and change quickly, so you’re never quite sure what to expect each holiday season. The first year trick or treating with my son was quite fun. He let me dress him up as a little pirate and he was excited waiting for the fun to start. Being so small…I think he was a little younger than 2, we didn’t get very far around the neighborhood, but he was absolutely fascinated with the people handing out candy.
Soon he wanted to go home and once we returned, all he wanted to do was hand out candy. The next year, I got him into a costume again, but he wouldn’t go out and trick or treat at all. Once again, he wanted to stay home and hand out candy.
As parents, we want our children to experience everything; all the special moments being a child. We need to realize that each child is different and accept their limitations when they pop up. After all, once my son outgrew the toddler years, he became one fierce trick or treater!
